The trojan pair

A new type to participate in this year's Classic Fighters Airshow will be the Trojan Pair flown by Brett Emeny and Peter Vause.

The North American T-28 Trojan was designed as an advanced trainer to replace the T-6 / Harvard series for the US Air Force and the US Navy. First flown in 1949, nearly 2,000 were eventually built, the first 1,194 being T-28As with 800 hp engines, however subsequent models featured engines of upwards of 1,300 hp, giving the aircraft an excellent performance allowing some models to play offensive roles.

Being seen for the first time in the South Island, the Trojan pair are based in New Plymouth and have worked up an exciting routine in their two Vietnam era warbirds that is bound to impress!
