Getting There

We recommend you source accommodation well in advance, as the hotels and motels will fill up very quickly.

State Hwy 1 through Kaikoura is open and provides a wonderfully scenic journey along the magnificant coastline, with the added interest from the many improvements to the road since it was damaged in 2016.

The alternative route is via State Hwy 6 to Murchison and on via State Hwy 63 through St Arnaud.

The self-drive and coach route between Christchurch and Picton, Picton and Nelson and Nelson to Christchurch provides a convenient top of the South Loop with plenty of attractions on the way.

Bus Service

Marlborough Tour Company and Sounds Connection will be operating bus services during the air show.

Details of costs and pick-up points to follow.

Campervans at Classic Fighters

Space is available for campervans and self-contained camping.

Few facilities are available, so there will be no power or water. Port-a-loos will be provided.

Cost is $50 for the weekend and is only available in conjunction with a 3-day Classic Fighters ticket (either general admission or Gold Pass).

There will be two camping locations, one off Aerodrome Road and the other via access from the Wither Road extension. Please follow the directions of official personnel and signposts. Camping outside the designated areas will not be permitted.

Please ensure your camping e-ticket remains visible on your dashboard, so that Classic Fighters staff can check it easily.

Access is open from Thursday evening, 18th April and all camping sites must be vacated on or by Monday April 22nd.

Please note that the airfield will be closed to the public on Thursday ‘set-up day’ for safety reasons.

We anticipate a dry summer, so a total fire ban is likely. No outdoor cooking will be permitted.
